New Scholarship Opportunity for Displaced Federal Workers

Maryland is the proud home of many public servants who have dedicated their careers to helping others and ensuring that the essential work of our federal government happens. In light of the unprecedented firings of thousands of federal workers and the cancellation of many federal contracts, I am offering a new scholarship opportunity for residents of my legislative district (Rockville and Gaithersburg).

This new scholarship will assist displaced federal workers and contractors, as well as their spouses and dependents, with paying for the cost of higher education. This includes applicants who worked for a federal agency or for a federal contractor and been laid off, terminated, subject to reduction in force, or taken a buyout or early retirement. This scholarship is also open to the spouse of a displaced federal worker or contractor and for dependent children whose parent is a displaced federal worker or contractor.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

My office continues to also offer scholarships for low- and middle-income students. Applicants will only be eligible for one of the two scholarships.
